Swimming Skills at home

No pool? No problem. We’ve created some fun ways for young swimmers to keep their skills up and learn some new techniques they can practice in the tub with teacher Kate. These bathtub lessons are centered around water play and follow the same structure we use in our group swimming lessons. The goal is to have fun and get wet—splash away! (Parents must be present at all times.) Click Here for the video.

Family Friendly Yoga
Lin and Paige teach this family-friendly workout that is fun for all ages! Kids - and those of us who never grew up-will enjoy a quick 21-minute workout to increase flexibility, balance and overall health. Kids: challenge your parents or siblings to join you for this one and see if they can keep up with you! Add some nice music and make a game out of it! Click Here for the video.

This movement activity game "Farfelle" is fun for the whole family! In this version, kids start by standing in Mountain Pose, or Tadasana, which is a foundational yoga pose for all standing poses. During the game an adult will suggest a pose, a thing or an action and kids give their interpetation. the kids are called back to muntain where they are supposed to be statues until they wait for the next action to be suggested. It's imaginative and active for the kids and can serve as a coffee break time for the adults. Click here for the video.

Gymnastics Warm-up and Skills
Our gymnastics programs may be postponed, but don't let that keep your child(ren) from staying active at home.  Coach Tammy, Coach Audrey and a few team gymnasts have created some videos to help your child keep working on their skills right at home.

Youth Volleyball Drills
The spring volleyball clinic may be postponed, but that shouldn't stop your young athletes from staying active while at home.  We have added videos to our YouTube channel of Coach Natalie, (Bellview Kids Club Site Supervisor and former SOU Volleyball player).

Supporting our Members and Supporting our Community

For Emergency Childcare Options – Click Here

Thank you for supporting the Y as we support the community. The Ashland Family YMCA is providing Emergency Childcare but, has suspended operations, fitness, aquatics and sports programs at our facility. We intend to reopen as soon as possible, depending on the current situation and maintaining the recommended precautions.

We are offering live streaming and recorded fitness classes, making numerous repairs and improvements to the facility and assisting with community service work to help those who need it most. The Y is also continuing to employ our staff and directing them to work from home when possible. With the support of our members, the Y will continue to improve the health and wellbeing of our community during this challenging time.
