Youth Sports

Do you remember the first time you learned something new, with the support of a trusted adult, and surrounded by peers? This is what it means to be part of Youth Sports at the Ashland Family YMCA. We offer an open and accepting space for kids to earn new things and grow. Youth Sport participation helps create a foundation for lifelong healthy habits! All skill levels are welcome.

Spring Youth Sports

PeeWee

Have fun, make friends, learn new skills, gain confidence, and be physically active in Y-sports.  Coed and age appropriate teams.

Saturdays: April 20th, 27th, May 4th, 11th, 18th 

9:00a – 9:45a 

$40 Y-member / $60 Community

* Parent participation is required.

 

Preschool 

Saturdays: April 13th, 20th, 27th, May 4th, 11th, 18th 

9:00am-10:00am or 10:00am -11:00am

First 30 minutes are a practice, the next 30 minutes are a scrimmage. 

$50 Y-member / $70 Community

 

K-6th grade 

Practices start: April 1st

Practices are two times a week for one hour each. Practice days and times are chosen by the volunteer coaches and games are held on Saturdays. 

First Game:  April 13th Last Game:  May 18th

$83 Y-members/$103 Community

Youth Volleyball Clinic

Join us for a YMCA Volleyball Clinic led by SOU players and coaches! This is a great opportunity to expand your skills and get ready for your next season. All experience levels are welcome.

4p-5:30p – ages 7-10 $50 Y- Members/$70 Community

4p-6p – ages 11-15 $65 Y Members/$85 Community

Scholarships available to those who qualify.

School Year Opportunities

Learn the fundamentals of boxing, or hone your skills at the Y! Learn from Coach Bob Brawley who has spent his life enjoying boxing as an athlete and as a coach. Learn new things, expand your skills and have fun. All experience levels welcome! Ends for summer break May 31st. Restarts with the new school year.

 

Thursdays – 3:30-4:45 (12-15 yrs)

Fridays – 3:30-4:45 (15-18 yrs)

Fencing at the Ashland Family YMCA is primarily recreational. Students will learn the technique, rules and etiquette of fencing with the standard (non-electric) foil, as well as skills that are fundamental to safety, and success. Our program emphasizes respect, fun, and camaraderie.

Youth Fencing, 8-12 years, 1 day/week

Fencing, 13 + years, all levels, 1 day/week
T 5:00-5:45p

$39 Y-members/$54 Community Monthly

A $5 non-refundable deposit per month is collected at registration. Equipment may be rented through the YMCA: $11/month after a refundable $80 deposit.

Fencing Practice

Non-Instructional practice. Must be enrolled in a Tuesday Class or with instructor approval.
T 5:45-7:00p and F 5:00-7:00p
Monthly: $18 Y-members/$28 Community or Drop-in: $6 Y-members/$8 Community

Register at the front desk prior to attending class.

An opportunity to practice, learn from others and have a blast! This classic and ever-popular sport offers the perfect mix of competition and camaraderie.

Mondays 6-8:45pm (14-18 yrs)

Come learn golf with the West Coast Golf Academy! Have fun, make friends and learn new skills. The classes begin in the YMCA gym and then move out to Oak Knoll later in the month to play on a real golf course! All gear is provided. Ends for summer break May 29th. Restarts with the new school year.

Wednesdays 3:00-3:45 (4-7 yrs) and (7-11 yrs)

$40 Y – members / $60 Community (per monthly class)

Taekwondo is a fun, dynamic, and effective activity program. The unique combination of structured action tempered with discipline and good manners provides children with an appropriate environment to apply and release their boundless energy. We offer a safe place, a quality curriculum, and experienced guidance. Ends for summer break May 29th. Restarts with the new school year.

 

Mondays and Wednesdays: 3:45-4:30 (6-8 yrs) 

Mondays and Wednesdays: 4:30-5:15 (9-12 yrs)

Summer Youth Sports

  • No contact, equipment provided, please wear athletic clothing and bring a water bottle
  • ages 6-12
  • Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:30pm-5:15pm
  • $68 Y- Members/ $88 Community per month (based on 8 classes per month)
  • Classes start June 10th, sign up for one month or the whole summer!

Fall Youth Sports

As the school year begins and the weather cools off, soccer season arrives! Participants have the opportunity to develop skills and grow new friendships. Lace up your cleats for a season of laughter, challenge and cool Saturday mornings! Ages 2.5-12

Build skills and gain self-confidence with NFL Flag Football at the Y! Volunteer coaches focus on developing players’ core skills such as ball handling, defense, offense, conditioning and more. In this game, there’s a position for everyone!

Winter Youth Sports

Work as a team and learn about yourself! From beginners to trick shot legends there is a spot for you in our basketball league! Teams are organized based on skill level, ensuring fair competition and an enjoyable experience for all participants.

Specialty Clinics and Events

Run by former SOU Coach, Mark Brown! Come learn the basic skills and game strategy of Lacrosse. Build strength, speed, agility and coordination. Open to youth ages 7 – 15

Experienced player and coach, Cori Frank will be offering a pickleball clinic for young players to learn and play the sport of pickleball!

Clinics are multi-day or multi-week long sport single sport concentrated learning opportunities. They are offered in fall, spring, and winter depending on the local school schedule. Each provides a great opportunity for your kids to learn from experts and stay active!
