Join us on Wednesday, April 1 at 12pm noon for a special Wellness Wednesday: Understanding Sound Healing with our very own David Romero. The intention of this course is to introduce participants to the foundational principles of sound healing in a way that is approachable, grounded, and evidence-informed. Sound is a universal medium that has been used across cultures for centuries to support relaxation, focus, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. This class would invite members to explore how sound and vibration interact with the nervous system and how these tools can be applied safely and effectively in daily life.

During the one-hour session, participants will be guided through:

  • Basic theory of sound, vibration, and frequency
  • How sound influences the nervous system, stress response, and states of awareness
  • Common sound healing tools and methods (such as voice, breath, and instruments)
  • Practical ways to engage with sound intentionally for relaxation, grounding, and self-care

The course will be educational in nature, experiential without being esoteric, and appropriate for all levels of familiarity. No prior experience is required. The emphasis will be on empowerment, helping members understand how and why sound works, rather than positioning it as a passive or mystical practice.

This offering aligns closely with the YMCA’s mission to support whole-person wellness—physically, mentally, and emotionally—while providing members with practical tools they can integrate into their everyday lives. David’s aim is to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where curiosity and learning are encouraged.
